Mayor Declares July 26-Aug. 1
All City Swim and Dive Week

Madison, Wis. Madison Mayor Paul Soglin has proclaime July 26 through Aug. 1 as All City Swim and Dive Meet week in Madison. And USA Swimming, for the second year in a row, has recognized Madison as one of the best swimming cities in the country.

The All City Dive Meet is July 27 and July 28 at Seminole Pool and Tennis Club and the All City Swim Meet is July 30 through Aug. 1 at the High Point Swim Club.

The mayor’s proclamation recognizes the 54 year history of the All City Swim Meet, which began in 1962 at Hill Farm and now brings together nearly 2,000 swimmers from 13 Madison area swim clubs for one of the largest amateur outdoor swim meets in the country.

The mayor said in the proclamation that the All City League contributes to making Madison a premier, familyfriendly city, while together with sponsors and charitable partners also promotes sportsmanship, camaraderie and fitness for the thousands of schoolaged participants.

“It is an honor to host the All City Swim Meet this year and all the volunteers who have been working more than a year to put together this signature event want to thank Mayor Soglin and Alderman Mark Clear for this proclamation,” said Gary Hartung, president of the High Point Swim Club board and one of the directors of the meet.

Adding to the buzz is Madison’s ranking as the sixth best swim city in the country based on an analysis by USA Swimming released this month. The top five were Ann Arbor, Michigan, San Jose, California, San Francisco, Durham, North Carolina, and Austin, Texas.

“While we know that Madison is second to none in its devotion to swimming, we are proud and thrilled to once again be recognized as one of the top 10 swim cities in the country,” said Lisa Sanchez, who is in charge of running the All City Meet at High Point.

Huge events like the All City Swim Meet couldn’t happen without the generous support of sponsors.

“The community really comes together every year to put on this meet and help our city’s young swimmers have the experience of a lifetime,” said Jack Young, who led sponsorship efforts for the All City Swim Meet this year. “Madison couldn’t put on this event without their generous support.”

The All City Swim Meet organizers would like to thank the meet’s premier sponsors Dental Health Associates and Park Bank. We would also like to thank our platinum sponsors CUNA Mutual Group/TruStage Insurance, ESPN Madison, Madison Investment Advisors, Orthodontic Specialists of Madison, Sanchez Industrial Design, Sound Devices and TDS.
