B. B. Clarke

For at least a decade before the 1962 Hill Farm meet, another All-City Swim meet took place annually at B.B. Clarke Beach in Monona Lake.  Swimmers qualified for this meet throughout the summer, and competed in the Lake in events like the 10-yard and 20-yard freestyle.  There was also diving at these beach meets, including a high dive event!

Because the B.B. Clarke All-City Swim Meet already had the name “All-City,” the new event started by Hill Farm in 1962 went by various names for several years, including the All-Pool Meet, the Capitol City Championships, the City Pool Meet, All-Pool Championships, the All-City Pool Meet, All-Madison Pool Meet, and finally in 1984 it was shorted to the Madison All-City Swim Meet.  For a number of years in the 1960s, there was both an All-City pool meet and also the All-City meet held at B.B. Clarke Beach.

The B.B. Clarke Swim meets ended in the late 1960s.
